I don’t know about how your life has been going since the economic slowdown. A lot of people have lost their jobs, homes, and pensions. I wasn’t spared the hardships then the maple syrup plant I had been working at was shut down and I was laid off. It’s been pretty tough, but I know a lot of people have had it worse so I really can’t complain. Anyway ever since I lost my job I’ve been searching and trying to find something to fill the gap. The other day I figured I’d consult the Internet and searched “video games for sale” into google. To tell you the truth I didn’t figure a lot of results would come up, but I suppose with so many people looking there should be people trying to meet their demands.
The first job that caught my eye was one that was looking for people to sell stock trading software. I looked at the job requirements and sadly it was a bit more then I could do. They wanted someone with past experience installing floors and I definitely don’t have that. To be truthful I get tired mowing my lawn. I wasn’t disheartened and kept looking for more jobs on the net.
Next I decided I should look for jobs I’m more qualified for. I began my search by narrowing it down to only jobs in middle level management or I figured I might even take an administrative assistant job. There surprisingly were a lot of those listed on almost every site I looked at. When I first started that search I thought that jobs would be in high demand and thus there would be few of them available. I checked these jobs out and the only real disappointment was that I am used to making more than the jobs paid.
When I sent out my applications (to 21 places total) I sat back and hoped I would hear back. Just around 2 weeks later (when I was starting to worry that no one was going to call) I heard back from 2 of the places in the same day. I was pumped. I scheduled interviews and prepared myself to go in and come off as a good employee. Sadly my first job interview didn’t the way I had hoped it would. I shrugged it off and chalked it up to the fact that I haven’t had to interview for a long while. The new interviews went a lot better and I really thought something could come from it. It wasn’t long before I heard back with offers from two places! I was so happy to hear back from them. Now I’m all set to start next week and couldn’t be happier.
Having a good resume is not impossible. There are plenty of free sample resumes on the internet to help you create your own document. As well, you may also have a resume closer than you think. Some word processing programs, such as MS Word, come with resume templates to help you by allowing you to type in your information in their preset templates. The resume format is easy to follow. Simply save it on your hard drive for handy retrieval whenever you need to print or send a copy to a potential employer.
Microsoft Word offers templates that are standard components with their Office products. When you open Word, you are given the option of opening a document. You can choose New document and a template appears. Choose the resume template and go from there. If you do not have Microsoft Word, then you can still find resume templates and resume samples on the internet. One great place to visit is www.quintcareers.com/resume_samples.html. They offer a variety of formats from which to choose.
Free sample resumes are great ways to see what a professional resume should look like. There is a downside though. Most will not allow you to enter in your information and save the document. They are only designed to illustrate what the resume should look like, rather than offering the chance to use it to generate your own document. You can always use Microsoft Word to create your resume and cover letter though.
Ideally, everyone should take a class on writing resumes. However, some people may think that they will never need one. There are some jobs that only require an application to be filled out. But, if you think you should be prepared with an effective resume, then there are some online programs that will allow you to enter the required information into the appropriate fields and, once finished, it will create your document for you. There is nothing worse than searching the online job banks, finding your dream job and knowing that you are qualified, only to have your hopes dashed because you can’t apply. Always be prepared by having your updated cover letter and resume all set to go.
Wilkipedia is a great resource for definitions on what types of resumes are best for your needs. You can also find links that will take you to free sample resumes. Just remember that you need to save the information for the future, in case your contact and job information changes. Otherwise, you may wind up recreating the entire document from scratch, if you haven’t saved a copy on your hard drive.

Becoming a registered nurse is on the minds of a lot of people right now. Most people realize there are not enough nurses and that nursing jobs pay a good amount of money. So you may be wonder how you go about becoming a registered nurse, right? There are different ways actually and which way would be better for you will depend on your current situation and your goals.
First of if you have no college then you have a couple of different options. Each one depends on your long terms goals and how quickly you would like to enter the work force as a registered nurse. Make sure before you sign up for a nursing program you research about the schools you are interested in and understand how the schools and programs differ.
If you would like to become a registered nurse as quick as possible and have no plans or interests in ever working in a management position, then an associates degree from a community college or university may be all you need to complete. Another option is a diploma program such as from a hospital that may allow you to earn you RN license. If you decide to go this route and then someday do change your mind you could always return to school to complete an rn to bsn degree at some point in your career.
Another option is if you current hold a bachelor’s degree in another field and wish to become an RN. There are programs out there from some universities that may allow you to complete a program on a fast track type of program. Due to the nursing shortage many people who wish to change careers are searching for different options of entering the healthcare field and this is one of them.
Whatever option you choose one type of program you may wish to consider is an accelerated nursing program available from some universities. These may or may not be applicable to you and your current situation. The easiest way to find out is to contact some schools to learn more about their program. One of the more common ones is an online rn to bsn program offered by some institutions.
It would take twice the time it would take a full-time student regardless but it also depends on what part-time is classified as at your university–I know for mine under 12hrs is part-time but we also have intersessions where we can take an certain amount of classes during our X-Mas break, right after Spring semester, and right before Fall semester in addition to summer school.
